One of my smaller snails has a cracked shell. I don't handle the smallest ones at all, pretty much, and I'm assuming it happened either in transport or the snail fell from the roof. Anyway, she seems pretty happy but the shell is badly cracked, and if I gently touch it she starts bubbling out of her breathing hole. On the website it didn't say much about how to treat this, so any advice?

i'ld say pop her in a small shallow tub of her own, give her pleanty of cuttle and generally try to disturb her as little as possible

Okay, thanks. Going on vacation soon, so will do that once I get back. The snails don't really get that cuttle is calcium- should I feed her mainly mushy stuff that I put on the cuttle?

I'm going to start making calcium blocks as my older ones don't like damp cuttle and its such a waste throwing it away every few days. Dumbledore I would grate or powder cuttle fish over the food

I wash cuttles and dry them in the sun or on top of heaters in the winter. That way I get them to eat it all the way, except for the hard side.

mix some water in with some calcium poweder slowly until it all starts to stick together (like making more solid icing or pastry), if it gets too sloppy add some more powder and then roll it into a ball flatten it a bit, leave it for a few hours to dry out then you have a solid block and pop it in. (if you wanted to be fancy you could add it to a mould but remember it would take longer to dry in there as there is reduced evaporation surfaces)

Ok thanks I'll give it a try I didn't think they would eat it by itself i though it would have to be on something. This could be the solution to my cuttlefish problem
