Hey everyone, for quite a while two of my margies have had shell problems, they are siblings. They live with 4 other unrelated margies that seem to be doing really well. I'm assuming thay the problem is genetic as only these two related snails have it, there was another sibling whose shell stopped growing all together and he died a while ago I'm worried that if this isn't fixed the snails bodies will be unable to grow properly and they will end up with other health problems that could be fatal. When I ispected the shell of the other snail I found a lot of rough irregular growth inside the shell around the problem areas. Does anyone have any methods of fixing this sort of shell growth so that the snails can continue to grow. Thanks, have a happy new year everyone!

Can you describe exactly what the problem is in detail and what we're looking at? It's hard to see from the photos, and I don't want to give bad advice and end up making things worse.

hmmm, never seen genetic related stunting look quite like that (which looks like flakey damage..). are they albino and the others not? sometimes albinos are more sensitive than "normals" and need a bit more heat etc. the other possibility being siblings is what they learned to eat when they were young (ive found snails relucatat to try foods/calcium they didn't have when young), try different calicum sources e.g if they have cuttle try limestone blocks, if blocks try cuttle, if they have both then it's not that! The trouble with the damage/growth problem you see in the picture near the previous whorl is that they seem to find it very difficult to grow new shell there (i've had a few receive damage there and really struggle to grow it back, it's also unbelievably fragile so easily damages again, maybe separate them from the others, remove any hardish ornaments and dont handle them and see how they do). Sorry that's not a huge amount of help. keep us updated
