It's finally been raining a lot, and my snail-sitter reported my pet snails are coming out of their shells. Hooray! I'm across the country from them, so to celebrate the much more tolerable weather after the heat wave, I thought I'd really try and find a snail outside. I did, a small one with a shell of about 5mm. He was one of those who are painfully shy and never ever extend when on my palm, but I lifted him up anyway to admire his extraordinary shell colouring. He also pushed his eye stalks out and looked at me. I was thinking, "woah, a snail of this species that dares to look at me! Magical!" My brother happened to be there too, so I showed him the brave little snail. Which was when I realised why the snail was extending. The snail was pooping, big time, and obviously couldn't hold it, and didn't want it inside his pretty shell, so the only option was to poop on whatever scary thing had taken him. I put him back down to finish his visit to hotel relief in some privacy, and laughed. Funny little guy. I wonder what my brother thought, though.
