Hello everyone, I'm new here. I know this is a snail forum, but I read somewhere that we can ask about slugs here too. I really would appreciate any help I can get, you see I am going out of town in a few days, will be gone for 10 days, and of course cannot bring my dear Kevin with me. My question is, what can I do to secure care for him while I am away? I'm pretty sure my parents will not water (you know, literally) and feed him while I'm gone. I am a first time slug owner, so I am still new to a lot of things, but he's lasted a good few months so far. I had a black mystery snail at one point, but he was my girlfriend's mostly, and of course, completely different care. Kevin is a Black-Velvet Leatherleaf Slug, Angustipes ameghini (I think.....)
This is my baby.
♥
Thank you all in advance. ; v;

Welcome to the forum! Of course slug questions are fine as well, and that's a pretty slug you got there The slug should have someone to see him at least a couple times during your trip. Snails and slugs are great at surviving but a pet deserves care. If your parents refuse, maybe ask a friend to visit your house and the slug? Say very specific instructions for what to put in the tank and what to look for (signs of problems, etc) and when you're back, get your friend something nice as a thank-you.

He's a beauty! I like his name, too. I guess you might say he's going to be "Home Alone"!

Hi puku, welcome to the forum!
How about bringing the slug with you in a small plastic travel tank that you can easily carry?

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I'm glad you all like him. etana - Thank you! Sadly I don't know many people who will be willing to help. ; A; I'll ask my parents just in case. malacophile - Aww, thank you. Since he doesn't really have a gender I just go with 'him' labels and named him Kevin. X3 morningcoffee - Thank you! :3 I have thought about it, and I would love to bring him with me but I worry about altitude in the plane. Do you think flying could impact his health? My girlfriend has a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and had to fly him over when she moved here. We worried if he would make it, but he did. The distance for the plane ride would be Texas to Connecticut.

I think your slug's health will be fine, you only have to make sure that it's legal to bring him to Connecticut.

yeah I know it was by train but I took Zorst no1 when he was sick away with me for work it was about a 7 hr journey. He survived it fine despite being so sick, I couldn't trust anyone to feed him n look after him as well as myself due to his not eating n retraction. And it wouldn't have been fair to leave my young daughter with him. He did survive and traveled fine.
Just check its legal to take him where your going.
