Hi guys, its been a long time since I frequented the forum, not sure if anyone remembers me.
I have recently acquired two baby pomatia (captive bred). They are around 2 centimetre in length and very sweet, I have wanted poms for a very long time! However I am having trouble with inactivity, one baby buries himself and the other sticks to the lid and forms a seal over his shell opening and neither of them are eating. I was originally keeping them in the same conditions as you would Helix aspersa, with the temperature at around 18/19 Celsius, but have recently upped it after reading on here that somebodys were more active with higher temperatures, to around 21/22 Celsius. Both babies are still very inactive?
Does anybody have any suggestions? They are currently in a critter keeper tank with Coir, moss, food and cuttle bone. Perhaps moving them to a smaller 'baby tub'?

Bumping this up as I'm still not had any success with them, although have moved them to a small tub with just moss food and cuttle bone today to see if that helps.

Have you had any luck with them katie? I had troubles keeping poms reliably aswell so afraid I can't be much help, I also tried to keep them in similar conditions to asperas originally and found they were fine for a while, then would go inactive/stop growing for no reason, then back again... moderating their environment to hotter, colder, drier, wetter never seemed to help much. Such a shame as they're a gorgeous species to have around when they're happy and healthy. That behaviour does sound like they need more or less heat, and higher humidity, but it sounds like you know what you're doing. I feel for you since I could never seem to figure them out and I'm sure it shouldn't be that complicated, they're not exactly exotic!

Hi Starcrazy, sorry I didn't get back to you, last year went crazy fast! Unfortunately I lost both babies I fiddled around with their habitat a little more, warmer, cooler, dryer, damper like you've said, but had no success, and both babies died. Such a shame, as they were very cute, and a species I had been wanting to keep for years, but this has put me off trying again. Katie

Sorry to hear this Katie. I've heard that pomatia can be tough to keep in captivity, too
