Hi everyone. I recently added a Cepaea Hortensis to my snail tank to keep Garry, my Helix Aspersa company. After a few days, I noticed these in the tank... Looking at pictures of eggs, these look different, but I wanted all of your expert opinions! Thanks Chris

A little hard to see, but yes, they appear to be eggs.

Looks to me to be more like mold as the eggs are a semi clear cream color and clustered in lumps that stick together like jelly until disturbed. If you look at the enlarged picture these white lumps seem to have a fuzz growing around them and tendrils growing from them that would indicate some kind of mold or fungal growth. Did this appear by chance either where there had been some food or near to food?

Yes, it's right near the food dish. It appeared over night.
I change the food regularly and I haven't had a problem before which is strange, although I suppose keeping the tank moist for the snails leads to mould.
I googled snail eggs and I don't think they look right either. How long do eggs take to hatch? If they were eggs, I was going to let them hatch and release the babies, not sure what to do now.

Eggs would take from between a few days to a month to hatch, but since many people here (myself and yourself included) agreed that the zoomed photo doesn't look like eggs, I'd advise you remove the stuff. Fungal growth isn't dangerous to snails (in fact it could grow into a mushroom that they like to eat, lol), but most people agree that it's not a nice guest in human homes. Do you have a hygrometer for measuring the tank's moistness, one that you stick to the wall of the tank? The moister, the more likely you are to get mould. Moist makes snails happy of course - but you don't need excess.

I'm afraid they're certainly not eggs and are some type of mold, i'ld just take it out with a tissue and discard it. You get things like this quite easily, scraps of missed food (especially seeds) or from the poo. Wish you luck with real eggs int he future
