Hi! Does anyone here have experience with capillary matting? I was thinking of lining my tank with this and providing a box for digging. Any thoughts?
thanks!

I've used it in a tank of rescue snails that had JUST been brought home and were in a fragile state, but you should always give healthy snails a suitable environment including proper substrate.

You can sometimes use it temporarily in a tank if you're having major problems with mites, flies etc while you work to eliminate the problem, but it's really not suitable for long-term use.

Thanks, I don't have a pest problem anymore thank goodness! I just thought it would be cleaner that substrate, but I like the look of coir anyway.

In terms of poop and slime, it's actually not really much cleaner, the mats tend to get pretty nasty and stinky quickly. Poop really easily gets smooshed into the mat by the snails, if you're not taking the matting out and washing them really regularly they get very dirty and smelly. Also because the matting holds water incredibly well, they tend to get soaking wet very quickly and they don't dry easily, so again you find yourself constantly having to take it out of the tank to wring the water out etc. Definitely not very convenient
