If you are bored and wan't something to do...I love to spray the sides of my tank down with water and then as the snails climb up the side, stick some fish flakes by them and see if they will eat it! FYI, I am laid off of work for a month and a half and am very, very bored! Is it just me, or is this snail smiling? Hee hee!

Lol yes I did that with little pieces of lichen today! The nearest Cepaea, who happened to be awake, was quite happy.

Ultra thin slices of sweet potato work very well too. Though if they're not completely eaten, they'll be very, very stuck to glass once they dry up. And even then some determined snail may come and rasp at it lol. I'm jealous of the snow! Being Finland and all we're supposed to have it, but so far there hasn't been any that'd stay.

I'll try that too etana. I am also jealous of the snow, I'm in Ireland and we got some deep snow a few years back, people still talk about 'The Big Freeze'

We are so excited about the snow! We don't have motor vehicles, I live on a small island, so in the summer we ride bicycles and in the winter we ride snowmobiles!

Wow snailed! Sounds like quite a place to live! I just hope we'll have snow that stays when it's Christmastime, because I think all the decorations look just silly against muddy ground and dead grass. As for the boredom, maybe you could try Snail Agility? Some young kids on another message board were doing it, attempting to get their snails to slime a certain route by putting tiny bits of treats along it. Not sure that it's a competitive sport like bunny and puppy agility are though...

wether you get excited by snow is the ultimate test of how mentally old you are. I love snow and making snow creatures. when i was on placement all placement students and one other went out to make snow creatures whilst the "proper people" watched us from inside which was proof they were old it's sad really. Snow creatures were great we even saw visitors taking photos of them we think we made an improptu attraction I've just realised i've never made a snow snail. If it snows this year i'm making a snow snail. we should have a forum snow snail competition! (it would have to run until april or something to try and let everywhere have snow and allow "fake snow" snails!) oooo..... *goes off muttering to self*

I am totally making a snow snail at some point! Then all my friends will really think I have lost it to the snails!

Shamefully enough I haven't played with snow for a long time. Lately I've been letting go of many of my attempts to behave "correctly" if I don't get anything out of it, though. Makes life much easier and more fun, too. So, I might as well go ahead and make a snow snail too, lol. I think snails are a pretty safe thing to "lose it" to, compared to lots of other things. They're so harmless, and also pretty cheap compared to many other pets and activities.

etana i'm disappointed with you, but glad you are loosing some of your correctness. As the saying goes "There's no point being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes".
