Selena, thanks very much, and that's a great photo too! I love when snails do that, they look sooooo suspicious! Zorst yes, take a pic of that! I didn't know snails move food into their sleeping places, I only knew they sleep on food they don't want to lose. So funny and interesting! This morning in my Arianta/Cepaea tank: One teenage Arianta, rather feminine with that lovely pale foot so let's say it s a her, was making moves at another Arianta who has a slightly weird shell. She was using a smaller snail as a step. The little one didn't appreciate! She's being successful with her moves too, judging from the cheek area of the other snail. But just look at the face of the poor little snail under the white one! Captions, anyone?

Thanks!!
it was so funny. The Rodatzi kept sitting on the immaculatas shell for hours, looking grumpy like that! The immaculata tried to enter her coconut house and the rodatzi refused to move. Finally she managed to get in the house with the rodatzi sticked on her shell and next day he was still there. He won't gave up! haha

LOL, Selena, poor lovesick rodatzi! Can't blame him for not trying! Something a bit similar happened here last night - my Tauno was kissing Halonen all over her mantle, very, very aroused and ready for love, and Halonen didn't warm up at all. When Tauno realised that, he sat on her shell for I think an hour making all kinds of funny grumpy faces. He gave up on wooing her after that though, lol.

(rofl)Great pictures they really made me laugh. I have x2 Immac's in the tank with the Adult Margie Bulldozers, a few weeks ago one of the Immac's decided he had love on his mind and as the other Immac had taken refuge under the water bowl and gone to sleep he set on the bright Idea of trying to chat up the biggest of the Bulldozers. Needless to say it didn't go down to well n the Bulldozer really wasn't Impressed. But that Immac didn't give up he tried for 3 days to woo the Bulldozer and because the other Bulldozers who had all been watching the drama unfold decided that neither Immac was now allowed inside the flowerpot to sleep the poor lovesick Immac took to sleeping alone on top of the entrance to the flower pot as close as he could get to his new girl friend Bulldozer. Eventually he did give up and by then thankfully for his sake the other Immac had also got bitten by the love bug. They have been busy making snaily love on n off for weeks now so I'm hoping that soon I will find some Immac eggs laid, I can see them inside the snails were just waiting on the laying bit. As for the Bulldozers well they celebrated amongst themselves and there may well be some more bulldozer eggs being laid as well. All fun in the snail tanks here. Happy snailing Zorst

Zorst your stories are so funny. Poor Immac who wasn't allowed in the flower pot! My poor Tauno makes moves on Ewert and Halonen on different days, Ewert runs off as fast as possible and Halonen just continues to not be impressed. Yesterday Tauno was patting on Halonen's shell, with his cheek bulging, and she simply didn't come out until he stopped and snailed away. Must be so disappointing! He's also tried to woo Taavetti, and Taavetti liked it and was responding and they were kissing each other, but then things didn't work out in the end. It may be that neither of them is old enough to have anything but sperm so they couldn't mate. Too bad!

Lol ! Etana at least our snails stories are keeping on par n making us both laugh. Well the Immac situation here went from the silly to the ridicules tonite, Ive got some photo's this time but will have to upload them from my phone over the next couple of days. The 2nd Immac is now as bad as the first and the first has had its fun and now isn't interested so the 2nd Immac is now sitting on the back of one of the bulldozers who's nearly twice its size doing gentle eye stalk pats on its neck n head. The Bulldozer really isn't impressed at the whole idea but well the Immac has got its self into a bit of a state of excitement n now has all his tackle hanging out ready and a big ball of sperm hanging around on the end of it. Seriously its about the size of one of the bulldozers eggs. I do feel for the poor Immac now its really interested the first Immac just wants to sleep. What with all this going on now 2 more of the bulldozers are getting all friendly with lots of neck dancing and eye stalk patting n touchy feeley going on again. Its all fun and games n love in the Bulldozers and the Immac's snail tank tonight . Zorst

Ridiculous is right LOL Yes post the pictures!!! I didn't see any attempts at romance in my GALS tank yesterday, but the young Arianta keep having their group kissing sessions. They just don't seem to figure out how to proceed from there, lol. The other day Rudolf joined in and was kissing two young snails at the same time. He must be very happy!

This has been Snaggle's latest trick - something new he learned over the winter. In this photo, he's been hanging by a slime thread in this precarious position for about 20 hours.

Wow its doesn't look very strong! Have you tried cleaning slime trails off the sides of a glass tank? Stuff is incredibly resilient! As long as he's hanging over a soft landing, I let him hang. Even misting doesn't disturb the thread, but when I want to get him down, a direct stream of water loosens it.

Brilliant photo's,it looks like you have a stunt snail there. As to the slime I'm convinced at times its about as moveable as steel. I'm a Blacksmith so I know how much heat it takes to make it workable, snail slime seems to sure take a good amount of very hot water to really get cleaned off things lol.

I have but a single branch of planted Tradescantia left in my wild-caught snail tank, after they figured out it was edible. While the last one is getting eaten as well, it's also being used for one particular young Arianta's acrobatic maneuver practise. He'll go to the very end, stick to the last leaf, and spin his head, tentacles and body all around! This happens even when I haven't touched the tank at all so there's nothing new to smell or see. It's like a hobby. I placed soft moss below the branch (not pictured) so he won't get hurt if he falls. The two Arianta are showing the Cepaea their idea of how to sleep beautifully! They were in that position for a LONG time, not moving one bit, so they were really all asleep. I guess that more than one of my young Arianta have some kind of acrobatic urges. Meanwhile in the GALS tank... I honestly have no idea what Mauno (A. balteata) was doing; just going under the food dish upside down doesn't seem like the whole story. He was very grumpy when we found him, so maybe things didn't go to plan. He just kept on sitting there getting grumpier and grumpier, so eventually we turned the food dish over so he could be right way up again, and he snailed right off of it and went to sleep. Is it just me, or does Ewert seem to be wishing the mom of these babies wasn't much bigger and fatter than him so he could just kind of.... remove them? Here's the mom, indeed much bigger than Ewert and, erm, totally not crazy at all, cough. This was supposed to be me documenting the tender moment of Halonen being with two of her newly hatched babies, too tiny to have even pigment yet. The expression on her face renders this picture something completely different than "tender" though. I don't know what it is with my fulica and their ability to make their pictures very weird sometimes!

Thanks Zorst. Out of this batch, I myself laughed the most at Mauno, because 99% of the time he's so sophisticated and all kinds of lovely, never making a face like mommy Halonen in the last photo or anything - and then, just what happened?!

Must be that spring is in the air, poor Ewert is being hit on by Tauno and now Halonen too. She is a very big and fat fulica and she was spread out over all of Ewert's shell, kissing and patting him gently, with her love parts hanging out. Ewert looked so uncomfortable, to the major disappointment of Halonen! I don't know why the fulica love him, well there's no denying that Ewert is quite adorable...but he's very far from being mature and they likely couldn't mate anyway!
