Hello everyone, I am new to the snail world but I have already learned a lot from reading around on the forum! I have no idea of what species or anything that they are, so any advice or insight would be wonderful! They are currently in a glass fish bowl with soil, moss, a few dandelions and lettuce. So far they are not being very active except for the little guy in the photos. My hobby is macro photography and I decided that snails would make for adorable photos, so I went on the search for them today. I got a little carried away & ended up with 4 of them!! lol here are a few photos that I took of one earlier today! **Also, while I was searching for them I found (what I now know to be) snail eggs!!! I let them be as I would have no idea how to care for them**

What lovely pictures! As long as there is a sturdy lid, and you have looked up the proper way to set up a tank, you're probably fine. If you have any questions I'm sure someone experienced here can answer them.

It looks kind of like my small helix aspersa by the way, but I'm not particularly knowledgeable on snails. Some one else would be more likely to know.

I may invest in a larger tank but they are so small that I don't think they will need that but we'll see!

Just from doing a little looking around the web, I think they are maybe helicella itala? Not sure but that's what I've come up with. Wondering how large they may get! I'm very excited to be raising these cuties!

Hi acmacro, welcome ! Unfortunately there are hundreds of snail species looking similar to your little friend. Can you tell us the origin, that means: where was it found? What's the diameter / the width of the shell? Is there a navel (= umbilicus) at the bottom side? Can you perhaps take a picture from the bottom side (= basis)? It's surely neither Helix aspersa (now: Cornu aspersum) nor Helicella itala. Thanks for posting, kind regards: wolf

Yes, location will help a lot with identifying it, but i agree it's not cornu nor helicella. It looks to me like it might possibly be a Ventridens species, but I cant say for sure from just the pictures.

Absolutely lovely photos. I am quite certain that that snail is not a Helix aspersa, as some have suggested.
