So me and my sister have betta fishes and we thought mystery snails would be cool for their tanks! The bettas are nice to the snails and don't bother them. We got the snails 2 days ago!!
My sisters snail is active, he's climbing around a lot or at least out of his shell a lot! My snail NEVER comes out of his shell and barely ever moves.
Both of our snails never eat tho. I know this because our tanks didn't have algae on them, they were newly washed. And we only feed our fishes enough that they can eat so the snails wouldn't have leftovers. Then I offered them boiled tomato with bloodworms on it for a whole day and it went untouched. I even took them away from the bettas so they could eat without something they might see as a "predator".
Our tanks have a filter and we use hard tap water with fish stress stuff and conditioner. So I don't think the water is that bad.
Anyways how do we get them to eat?

Have you offered them algae wafers yet? They sell these in the fish food section and aquatic snails love them.

I will look for those tomorrow at petsmart. I came home from work tonight and FINALLY saw my snail that never moves, moving around and sucking on the glass with its mouth. Like not just the foot but it's little mouth was opening and closing. Does that mean he's looking for food? That would make me glad to know he at least has an appetite!

Yes, aquatic snails will rasp at the glass (in the wild they rasp at the rocks they move across) and will become good at "cleaning" the algae off your aquarium once it starts to grow. Since the glass is clean currently, it is moving around looking for food.
