So i got my first snails last monday! We were on vacation and went to a shellbeach (i live in The Netherlands btw). i found two species which i found awesome and took some of them, since there are soo many of them there and i had never seen them before. Cepaea nemoralis, i have 6 of them and all of them in pink. I have 1 C. hortensis too, but couldn't find more of them. We will be going back in early october so i will continue my search then for a few hortensisses. I have no picture yet of the hortensis. I will make one in the next few days or so And 10 Cernuella virgata! They're so tiny and cute!

Hi, yes, I think so, too: the second one should be Cernuella virgata. Where exactly did you find it? Kind regards: wolf

I found it on a grasshalm at the shellbeach at Lauwersmeer. That's a big lake near the sea. It's freshwater, but a bit salty as well. A few miles further would be brackish, since it's more towards the sea.

Ooh rosey ones! I've never seen any of that shade before, we just get brown/red and yellow ones (unless I'm looking in the wrong place ).

Haha yeah the nemoralis here are brown and yelow too, mostly with stripes. But where we went on vacation, we got roseyones without stripes! Hopefully they'll lay eggs! i love them in pink, lol! Hortensis the same issue too, although it's still alone Hopefully i'll find 1 or 2 in the coming week or so. Otherwise we'll have to wait until october

Rosey seems like a colour that would blend quite well in that environment; perhaps that's why? I'm sure the hortensis will be ok, it has plenty of company

My goodness, how my retics have grown in TWO WEEKS! I was completely in shock when i picked them up today for some pics. Compare the last pic of my retics with this one, you'll see my point. They look like completely different snails! Awesome!
