Is polymer clay safe for snails? I was thinking of making custom food bowls for them out of clay. And hides ex. You bake it so it seems like after its baked it should be safe? I think it's safe for fish? Not sure. If it's not are there any Clays that are? Thanks in advance

And does anyone know if hot glue is okay? I'm thinking of making a little tent out of sticks and idk if it's safe to use hot glue.

I wouldn't use hot glue but there is fish tank silicone that you might be able to use. It's the same thing that holds the sides of the tank together. The silicone is safe for fish so I'd imagine it would be okay for snails. drowningindemons

Hardware stores also have small tubes of silicone for a couple bucks.

When polymer clay gets wet, it has the tendency to leak certain chemicals which might harm your snails. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't use polymer clay for fear if harming my snails. It's hard to come by specific information regarding this subject with snails, but I know fish are as sensitive if not more than snails. The info I found on fish said that polymer clay has the possibility if harming fish, meaning it will probably have the same effects on snails. Thanks! Have fun!! drowningindemons

Probably not safe. You could use regular clay (the type that needs to be baked in ceramic oven). When it dries, it cracks and gets hard. I think you could then add more clay to the cracks until the bowl won't leak (but it will probably soak when wet). There are food bowls for reptiles that are safe for snails. I use aquarium silicone mostly, but sometimes also a kind of superglue. The type that only contains cyanoacrylate is safe (other types not safe).

If you use ceramic clay, you need to bake it in a kiln. Just wanted to clarify what tsrebel said so you didn't think he meant a regular oven. drowningindemons
