Thanks to a Florida snail species trade with another member, I was able to jump onto the Bulimulus bandwagon and have nine new snails! (two color morphs: Ivory & Dark). [my remaining drymaeus are the two at the very left in the first pic] I set up a bit of a "custom terrarium" since I live up north and the humidity is low in my house. Mainly I just glued all the air holes shut. (Don't worry they wont suffocate as the lid is relatively loose. I've had my Drymaeus in this terrarium over the past few weeks and they have been much healthier.) I might put some plants in here for decoration, but right now they seem to just hang out at the highest point in the terrarium.

That's awesome! I need to get out and look for some more. Even though they are super tiny, I like them.

Lol, yeah, i've been thinking of doing another local snail hunt, but i've been to busy to do so and it has barely rained for the past month. There is nothing super-exciting around here anyways though :/ I just can believe I've vacationed in sanibel once, and Fort myers 4 times, and Ive never seen these before! I must be looking in the wrong places!

The "Ivory" are Sanibel locale, the "Dark" are Ft. Myers locale. Crazy how much different they are within just 20 miles from each other.. I wonder if they are truly "morphs" or just phenotypic? Maybe I'll find out once I can make out the shell color on my new babies..

Wow!!! Very nice. Do yours like it that wet? I love the ivory with stripes. Apparently they do. I was talking with gigas about our snails and we both have seen these species (drymaeus multilineatus and bulimulis gudalupensis) get unhealthy if the humidity is under 80-90%. I just wish I knew that requirement before my 7 out of 9 snails dropped dead. Sigh... I guess two is enough to breed a captive colony though... Bulimulis sporadicus however may not need high humidity, since it's found between north Florida and Texas. I imagine Rabdotus dealbatus would also not mind dry conditions.

My Bulimulus... I no longer feed them. They're eating *something*, but I have no idea what it is. It's one of the vegetable molds growing in my terrarium...

Hmm...Which location are they from? I remember them having a different color morph, but I think its just the brown form of b. guadalupensis. mine have been eating fruit/veg/dog treats with no issues so far. It would be interesting if a sub-population of them has a different diet preference.

They are from Orlando, in Florida. Some are a pale ivory color, and others are a reddish brown. They do not have extremely significant stripes. I was housing them with my Vespericola Columbiana, so I am not sure whether they are the ones eating the lettuce or it's the Vespericola. I am going to isolate one and find out.
