I have noticed that ever since i changed the tank they lived in that both my snails seem to be spending most of their time hanging of the top of the cage, is this because they don't like the compost i have given them (compost and bits of bark mixed up)? hope you can answer this

Is the new compost different from the compost you used before?

I think it also depends on the kind of snails. For instance my fulicas and reticulatas are always hanging of the top of the tank during daytime. Other kinds like to bury the whole day and all of them have the same soil in their tanks.

Sometimes my aspersa will bury herself, other times she sleeps up at the top of her tank (same with my new milk snail). The cooler it is, the more they tend to want to bury. But mine aren't GALS and prefer a cooler climate anyway.
