Hello!!! I know this is a common problem, but I haven't found many answers to it. My apple snail, Darla has been escaping. She escaped once in the past about 3 months ago while I was at school, she fell and chipped the mantel of her shell, but was okay. In the last week and a half she has escaped three more times. She doesn't go far and I always find her within a few hours. She escapes through the filter hole, and I covered it with cardboard but didn't realize she could just move it! I want to upgrade to a 5 gallon (currently in a 3 gallon) so if anyone has any suggestions for good tanks with completely covered hoods that would. Be great! But primarily, I want to know how to get her from escaping! There is a few inches of air at the top of the tank, and I clean the tank regularly and the water parameters haven't changed as far as I know. So how do I keep her in the tank before she hurts herself again? Thanks!

You could try and glue the cardboard in place from the outside the glue may be harmful to your snail. Or simply buy a new container. Just make sure your little friend is safe shell damage can end bad... Have a nice day!
