First off, I looked in my snail's little home today and I found white fuzzy mold growing on the soil I had put in for it. Will this harm the snail? The food is in a separate container, so it should be a bit more separated from the mold. Also, if the container is supposed to be moist, and I live in a humid region, how do i keep it from growing mold? It hasn't even been a week yet since I got and transferred Sir Slimy to this new home.
A second question. In the last couple of days, I have notice that Sir Slimy will crawl up onto the side of the container, or the top. Not worried about this behavior, but it has been forming a dried out sort of ring around the space between the shell opening, and the surface it's on. Should I be worried about this, or it this normal snail behavior?

Mold is a common (and sometimes constant) issue in humid, warm environments. I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't really found a prevention method for mold, other than changing the food regularly, and I keep colonies of woodlouse/isopods in my snail tanks, they help eat old food, poop, mold, and are harmless to snails.
This is perfectly normal, snails seem to love climbing on walls and lids, and the coating is a shell cover that snails form when estivating. They sometimes estivate when temperature or humidity is too low/high, and sometimes it is just an instinct that goes with a season. Occasionally I have noticed that my snails will estivate (seemingly) randomly as well, I'm not exactly sure what all can trigger them to form a shell coating. But I wouldn't worry unless you think the temp or humidity is bothering him... these being too high could account for the rapid mold growth as well.
Apologies if my response seems jumbled, I'm typing this at 2AM and I think I'm half asleep haha...

I don't think her snails are even estivating yet, I think they're just sleeping on a wall and forming that sort of film that holds them up after the body retracts.
If you have multiple snails they will sometimes eat each others' "film".

Nope, just one snail. And yeah, after more observation, it seems to just do it once in a while, and I increased the frequency of spraying the tank down with water, and that seemed to help. Spraying a bit of water on it seems to make it come out of the film again. Temp wise, I don't think it should be getting /too/ hot right now, though perhaps a tad bit chilly at night. Weather here is humid, but otherwise, generally pretty mild in the summer. I don't like the humid, but snail buddy probably loves it. Spraying a bit of water on it seems to make it come out of the film again.
Also, now I'm seeing some very tiny little mites. Not a lot, but a few. Is there a way to deal with these little guys?
Thanks for the responses. ^.^
