I was thinking, what about if i sprayed my tanks with rainwater instead of tapwater and maybe even filled their drinking bowls up with it?
I have a water butt, which is clean apart from the bit of silt in the bottom, i mean it's got to be better that tapwater which has chlorine in it hasn't it?
what do you think?

Good idea, but personally I don't think it will make a difference. I did suggest a while ago that the blistering thing on the dimis may be caused by chemicals in tap water. However, rain water may be polluted as well. You know, all the pollution that goes on affects the water cycle etc.

not really tbh, it can get cotaminated in so many ways.
you could clean tap water a bit by boiling it and leaving it to cool overnight.
removes alot of the treatment stuff from it.

Right on the point! Or you can let the water rest during around 3 days, to allow treatment substances to evaporate, and the water will be cleaner. Im using mineral water to give to my snails, on this case, this water don´t have any chemicals because it is tested and it´s the same water that we drink as in the water bottles, but I only use it, because we here have a lot of mineral water, so no problem. If I didn´t have it, I would do the same as you. About the rainwater, unfortunately, sonicsnail is right...

mineral water is actually bad in large quantities, ie drinking it regularly, its normally got a high metal count and a lot have high radiation count too.
why i prefer tap water.

It depends on the origin of mineral water. I don´t drink only mineral water, tap water too, even if it´s much worse for my health. Indeed only by treating it, tap water turns more acceptable.
