Hi everyone I've had my snail Geralda for about a week now, dad found her outside. Today when I woke her to give her food, I saw she had pooped so I cleaned her up and noticed she was also excreting yellow fluid.
Is she sick? I might separate her from the other tonight because I have two babies as well
Please help! Thanks!

Um, where was the liquid coming from? And have you fed her anything yellow?
Snails do get diarrhoea type stomach upsets, but I've never seen evidence of it being contagious. Another story is if it's not coming out with the poop but from a wound or something. A pic would be helpful too.
Also, some snails also are able to make themselves very wet and slippery when they're surprised. That's normal.

Black poo usually means she's eaten some soil. It's perfectly healthy and something that snails need to do. Sometimes snails poop on top of each other, it's not harmful at all as snails benefit from touching and eating poo.
The slightly thicker mucus is common too, may be that something has irritated her but I don't see anything particularly worrying there.

Thanks Etana Would you reckon that she's unhappy in captivity because when I replace food and clean the habitat she's always trying to escape and always seems to be collecting soils and getting herself much dirtier than the rest of them Dad believes since she's so big, she must be old and unhappy to be in captivity What do you think? Thanks

No, she is just settling in. Once you have had her for about a month or two, she should be completely comfortable with her Habitat.
