Yesterday I saw some mites crawling on one of my snails, there was only 1 or 2 mites on him so I decided to check all my other snails and one of my smaller baby snails had like 9 mites on her and even some in her air hole. I decided to bathe all of them in green tea and the mites seemed to disappear, i also changed their substrate and washed out their whole tub. All seemed fine until today my sister was asking something about one of the baby snails. this baby snail in particular has a rather see through shell. I picked up this snail to show my sister and as I was showing her the snail I was horrified to discover mites crawling under her shell! The mites seem to be between her inner shell(the one that hold all their organs in) and outer shell (the hard one). Im not sure how to get rid of the mites underneath her shell. She it eating well and seem alert but I really hope she is not in discomfort. What should I do?

Mites are annoyingly hard to get rid of. Like you have seen, they can crawl into the pneumostome and keep reproducing, no matter if you sterilize the tank. I had a mite problem a while ago, and (thanks to the suggestions of people on here) I found that pretty much the only way to fully get rid of them is to order predatory Phytoseiulus mites, because they are small enough to follow the other mites into the pneumostome and kill them, without much discomfort to the snail. Good luck getting rid of them!

I buy my predatory mites from naturesgoodguys.com. You can get a number of predatory species or a mix - which is what i get.
