I think this site is awesome. The pictures and stories I have read have really touched my heart. Everyone is great but I have to ask ...
What if I was considering letting my two snails go (Millie and Buddy). I just feel they should be free. I don't want to offend anyone on here and if you choose to have snails I think that is great! It has been very rewarding for me to have them through this past winter but it is spring/summer now. I am just feeling different. I am a bit afraid cuz I don't want to put them in a dangerous place outside. I guess I feel it's in Gods hands if I let them go. I almost feel tears coming to my eyes as I type this.
Any feedback would sincerely be appreciated. Ty.

As longs as they're native to where you live then it's totally fine to let them go. I'm sure you've done a great job taking care of them but if you feel it's not for you then it's probably better to set them free rather than have them end up neglected.

Thank you kaidashade. I would never neglect them. I feel like they are part of me. I watch them all the time and they are so cute together. I look outside and see other ones and can't help but feel sorry for mine in a small container. Just me. Thank you for your feedback

Heya it's not tabboo to consider letting your snails go, situations change, as do personal ideas about snailies in captivity etc They sound wonderful, and if you do release them I'm sure they'll lead an equally happy life, you'll probably will see them around, I've noticed the snailies in my parents garden see to be the same year in and out Xx

I had a beautiful pink cepea but only kept it for a week as it kept sleeping on the lid like it wanted to escape! I think keeping them or letting them go are equal options so you shouldn't feel bad either way

If you feel that you should set Millie and Buddy free, then you can. If you are upset about them being in a container rather than the wild, then you probably should let them go. Pets are meant to be enjoyed, not cause stress. Still, that's your choice.

It's not taboo at all. I've gone through the same emotions with my wild caughts. Personally I chose to keep them because with me they live a safe life, no one to step on them, peck on them or spray pesticide on them and there's always food and baths. I also try to make the tanks nice with things to hide in. But if the snails are native, it's your choice

Thank you all for your feedback. I still have them. Etana ... That is my only issue with letting them go. I couldn't bare it if they got stepped on or hurt or killed in any way. It honestly would break my heart. I am trying to find a place to let them go that could be safe, if that is at all possible. Until I do, I will be keeping them. I could never just chuck them out. They are part of my family, just like my Cat Lucy. I just take it one day at a time. Thank you all so much for your understanding and kind comments <3

I have let Millie and Buddy go. I did it last night when it was lightly raining. All I did was say a prayer for them and set down the lid of their home in a treed grassy area behind my apartment. I left for about 5 minutes and when I came back they were both gone. They are free now and as I see it they are in Gods hands now. I am sad and miss them but feel what I did was right. I still have their home and food, etc. If I find a snail that needs help or find others like them in the fall when it gets cold I will take them in. God bless them in their journey of freedom. I will stay on here cuz I have a feeling I will have more in the future. Thank you all for all your help and kind words. Please, if you are so inclined, say a prayer for them. Thank you <3
