I was playing with my snails after their nightly misting and the two I picked up spent a good amount of time rasping me (even going as far as to move to reach me from the side of their terrarium if I moved my hand away). They're little aspersas so they don't hurt, so I let them, but it gets kind of annoying after a while, so I don't let them do it for more than a couple minutes. BUT, it made me curious to know what other people think of their snails rasping them. Go ahead and answer the poll, and if you want to further elaborate on your thoughts, go ahead and reply as well! I am genuinely curious.
*edit* don't mind the typo in the poll... didn't see it and I can't fix it now. Oh well!

I always wash my hands twice before handling any species (once under the tap with a single squirt of mild sanitizing soap, then in a bowl with pure hot water and a scrubbing brush). Most people wouldn't even bother going to that much trouble, but I know I handle some rather toxic substances so don't like to take chances. C.Nemoralis and Hortensis seem to enjoy behaving this way. I never objected to this as I always found this "kind of cute".

I'm a photographer who works in a darkroom, so I tend to be in contact with rather toxic chemicals as well. As a general rule, I won't handle my snails on the same day as a trip to the darkroom. And naturally, I wash my hands before handling them as well! I've always found the behavior odd but charming. Do they think we taste good, or are they just curious about this large fleshy mass holding them?

My snails never seem to rasp on me, but from what I remember of it from being rasped by wild snails a few years ago, it actually feels kind of nice, even a bit ticklish depending on where they do it.
I always thought they were just eating dead skin, or whatever residues of food we have on our hands.

I guess they're like a lot of animals that just explore stuff with their mouth. My GALS do this quite a lot and even with those big guys it's just tickly and kind of cute.
