Hey guys I've come into ownership of a small tank, and I'm wondering what is the smallest land snail around? Theres a handy tank size : snail calculator ive been using, ive entered the tank dimensions but it asks you to enter snail type which obviously I dont have at the moment and the list is very long, so thought I'd just ask here! thanks in advance.

There are some extremely tiny land snails in existence (see this article for some examples: www.natureworldnews.com/articles/17969/20151104/tiny-shells-found-borneo-break-record-smallest-land-snail-species.htm )! I see snail species in my garden that are no bigger than the tip of my smallest fingernail, but obviously snails so small are not practical to keep as pets. Probably better to consider what type of snail you would like to keep, taking into account things like availability and ease of care, and go from there. If you are a beginner then starting with garden-type snails that can be found in your area is usually a good idea.

Oh wow theyre Deffinately too small for my liking, the tank I have is a 5 litre nano tank 8x8x5 inches. Ideally I want something that's unusual to look at but will be comfortable in a house that small.

That's a very small tank - you could probably keep something like a couple of Oxychilus snails or snails of a similar size, but the enclosure size is just too small to keep anything bigger in my opinion. Or you could use it to raise baby snails if you had adult snails breeding in a larger tank. It's roughly the size of the mini tank I use to raise Cepaea babies but I put them in a larger tank (or release them) once they start to reach juvenile size.

It really is too small for anything from snails to fish its tiny, its sold as a betta tank and yeah its fine for betta but I felt like he needed more stimulation so moved him to a 28L tank. Not sure what else I can do with it th, ill look into oxychilus though thanks for your help
