I found a baby snail aevestating in my yard. I have no idea what kind he is or how too wake him up (he’s pretty little so I’m not sure I feel comfortable breaking his seal). I temporarily put it in a little container with some damp paper towels and some boiled carrot. What do I do from here? How do I know weather he’s alive or not? Any ways to wake him up? Does anyone know what kind he is?

Update: baby snail came out of it’s shell and is eating the carrot. I think it might be a pacific sideband. It’s got a darker and redder body then my helix aspersas at that age. It’s very very little. It’s super cute.

After looking at him closer, I’m begging to think he might be a Hesperian snail. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Yea, after more research I’m like 90% sure he’s a Hesperian snail. He looks just like this, but tiny. www.odaguides.us/vespericola.htmlAnyone know about the care for these guys?

Hard to tell without more detailed pics but I think you are correct. It's not a young Monadenia, but definitely looks like a Vespericola.

I moved him into the container with my other baby snail (helix aspersa). it’s got a little dirt, a food dish with boiled carrots and oyster shell in it and some fakes plants for shade and climbing on.
Does anyone know about care? I can’t find much on these guys requirements other then they like high humidity and supposedly enjoy eating slime, algae and fungi on decaying wood and such. He seems to enjoy carrot. Does he have similar requirements to a pacific sideband?

Here’s some better pics. Him and the baby aspersa appear to be living together just fine. They both look pretty happy and healthy. The Hesperian snail has gained some color in his shell since I got him. (The top pic is the baby aspersa)
