I have never seen any of my tigers mating, but would assume it looks like other snails do as my margies, Lignus etc. all look kinda simular when mating. I am not an expert, but it doesn't look right to me. I would assume snails can become egg bound, same as any egg bearing species, but never having seen it in a snail, I wouldn't know if this is it or not. I am not being helpful at all am I. But I agree, it doesn't look right. Is the protusion it's self soft or firm? My thinking is if it is egg bound it might be a bit firm, not soft or bendy. Have to tried touching it to see if there is a reaction from her/him? I really hope it's ok.

Hi Moracai, thanks for the reply. The protrusion itself doesn't feel hard, it is soft but firmer at the end (reminiscent of cartilage). After wondering whether she was egg bound I had a look in her breathing hole but couldn’t see any other eggs so I’m not convinced that is the cause now. I’ve just been checking her and she appears to have deteriorated. Her skin looks to be splitting on her neck where it is being stretched. Moreover, she seems even more limp now than this morning, I feel absolutely useless as I don’t have a clue what to do. I’ve tried a warm/ cold bath and gently touching it but she tries to retract (even though she can’t because of the swelling) so I’m not doing that as it obviously distresses her. So I’ve just put her in some moss and am going to leave her in peace in the hope it will retract on its own, although I’m really not sure she'll make it .

This is exactly what one of my tigers had last year, unfortunatly that one didn't make it.This doesn't mean that yours is behind hope though.

Have you tried giving him a bath, and actually submerging him??

Yeh, i've tried a warm bath and a cold bath and neither worked.
TBH, like i say, i've popped her in some moss now because she doesn't seem to be able to support herself so that when i life her up she flops to the side so i figure its best not to pull her around so as to reduce the pressure on her neck.

Ooooo, sorry to hear the snail didn't make it The "swelling" almost looks prolapsed. Could it have been an organ that had "turned inside out"?
