8 nights ago i stepped on a garden snail’s shell and brought it in to recover. The crack was not major thankfully , and i have her in a small plastic Tupperware with about 20 small holes on the top for ventilation and to keep humidy high. I’m using no substrate. The appetite was low but she pooped 4 times so far (I’m feeding carrots , kale, sweet potato , mushrooms , apple ,and lately old orchid leaves). I have not noticed her eating , however but she must be having some. I spray with fresh quality water 2-4 times every 24 hours. I have cuttlebone there but she hasn’t gone near them.
My main question is this - As of now the shell seems to be healing well. I want to re release the snail in my neighbors garden near where i had found her. I want to wait for a rainy night after the rain falls , however next rainy day/night is not until another 4-5 days. It is October 9th and I am in New York. Temperature are averaging 60- 67 F during the day and 48-58 F at night next 5 days. 1 night before the rain it’s going to be warm 61 degrees. When it’s going to rain in 5 nights it will around 58 degrees at night ,and 48 degr degrees the night after that. Starting 2 nights after the rain the temperatures nights are going be consistently under 50 degrees , with days around 60 degrees for a week after Should i wait for after the rainfall to re release her ? Or should i re release her on a night where it hasn’t rained since it’s been quite a while in the Tupperware. I want to make sure she can hibernate properly and find other snail company Thanks for your help !

Hi! I’m not sure if you have released the snail or not yet, but I would keep it until fall and winter are over considering atleast where I live it gets cold fast. Also, if you still have her, I recommend getting a bigger place for her to stay
