Hi Everyone,
I have five helix aspersas that are healthy and active, they mate frequently and generally have zero snail cares in the world. However last night I saw one of them nibbling on the back of their own shell and looking uncomfortable. At first glance I thought they were tangled in a long hair. But it appears like it's coming from their side hatch (love dagger door). I feel horrible because before I saw where it was coming from I gave it a gentle tug and my snail was not happy at all. The internet isn't bringing up much information?
I'm not sure how to post a picture in this forum 😞

Hi, it's a little bit difficult to tell without a picture, but it might be the "spermatophore" (the rather long container for the sperm cells). Sometimes it misses its aim/target.
I'm not sure at all. Please try to post a picture. Best of luck: wolf

Hi, thank you! Yes, it's surely the spermatophore coming out of the gonopore. Please don't pull, you might hurt the inner genital organs. Sooner or later it will disappear. Kind regards: wolf

Thank you!! I left it alone. The snails all seem happy 😊
