Hi all.
I was wondering if anyone had experience housing GALS with smaller snails.
For winter I am thinking about moving my three small garden snails (helix, pleurodonte, 1 unknown) into my GALs' tank so they can all have better access to the heater. Does anyone know of any issues? They are all healthy and have been quarantined. My GALS is only juvenile at the moment, around 6cm, if the size affects if they can cohabit?
Thanks all

Hi rclark, sorry for the late response to this. I would say not to risk it- tankmates should be of a similar size; no smaller than half the size of the largest snail, and that's pushing it a bit. You would be better off keeping them separate to avoid your GALS accidentally smothering the smaller ones or even eating them. Even if the size difference isn't too dramatic now the GALS could double in size in the next few months as they continue to grow and your smaller snails will remain largely the same. On top of that, at least your helix genus snail will be ok with room temperatures and is unlikely to need extra heat, so they'll be ok without it! They're pretty well adapted to lower temperatures!
