So uh, hi! I'm new here and i hope this forum is still alive because I'm desperate D: I have two garden snails, i think helix aspersa, and yesterday they were both fine. Today i was going to feed them zuchini for the first time and saw one of them like this: TW: Swollen back, long bouth, and weird eyes imagizer.imageshack.com/img924/3185/40PQmt.jpg(same image, just trying something) He is kind of, breathing heavy, and the eyes are kinda bouncing, and he can't get them out right, and i don't think he can't move or eat properly. Please, please help, I've been doing research for at least an hour and I can't find anything

The snail is back to normal now, is eating and pooping, so yay. Someone sugested it was a seasonal thing, and i hope it was, still, I'll keep an eye on Glee Anselm, and hope it was nothing. (If anyone knows anything tho, please add it)

Maybe he was just tired and like spreading himself out to relax? I'm glad he's fine now

Maybe, someone told me it could be allergies or something bad he ate. I've never heard of snail allergies, but just to be safe I'm not giving him mango again (he ate mango a bit before this). I think maybe something i gave him had pesticides without me knowing, and even tho i always rinse the food he reacted badly(?
Either way, i'm glad he's okay too : D, and i'll be more careful with food

When they have swollen bouncy eyes that can’t extend properly it’s a sign that they can’t breath properly, and a sign they not feeling very well

Any idea why that might be? I've been thinking on making them more ventilation holes for a while now, could it be that they do need them?

Are the eyes still doing that? Cos it’s been few weeks since you posted. If snails are otherwise healthy but the eyes do that, try more holes. I don’t want to scare you bc it could be simply lack of oxygen. But I had eyes doing that when snails were injured, broken shell and couldn’t breathe properly or problem with mantle. But if you don’t have shell or mantle problems then it could be just oxygen. Try more holes, also bc depending on the breed, and I only know about garden snails Cornu aspersum helix aspersa, if there’s too much humidity and wet they could develop problems with mantle. Let me know if it works with more holes. Depending where you keep them and what breed they are, don’t do too many holes or they would go to sleep bc they think it’s too hot and they don’t like it. I find it difficult to keep snails inside, so I’m not the best person on indoor snails as mine really hate being indoors. Have a nice day xxx

The eyes are not doing that anymore, and they seem healthy overall. I made a few more holes anyway, and i'll be more carefull with humidity cuz maybe it was that. Thanks for the help : D
