Do you want me to sit in the corner and rust, or just fall apart where I'm standing?

I was wondering, on the species page on the main site, instead of just having a picture of the shell, could you say how common each are, like how easy they are to get hold of as pets?

I was thinking that it would be worked out on members' ownership. So I will add that info to each species. I didn't really intend to have a just a shell, I just made all the pictures in one go and I've not finished hardly any of the species pages, tigers, fulica, pancake slugs and bulimulus at the moment. Help needed

I've seen the pages you've done, looking good. It would just be handy to know whats available cause I'll end up having my heart set on a snail thats impossible to get. I don't know anything about particular species but if you want any help I'm happy to help research and stuff. Just let me know if theres anything I can do.

Obviously the level of detail on the tiger one is what we are striving for, but that will be impossible for most species. I'd like to get something up though, just pick a species and try and find out everything you can about it. If you send me that in some form I'll make a webpage out of it. Then we'll keep updating them as we learn more.

As for what is owned, I posted a list of what is currently found in captivity. I ain't time to look for it now, but if you can't find it, I'll look later on, when I get a minute.

Nat, in that case do you want to put together the aspersa page on the species section? I'll knock the code up but you could compile it all together.

Got them, they look great. I'll have a proper look later on. You need ImageMagick and then you can do all of them in one go.

I've been trying to research Achatina iredalei but theres nothing. Its impossible. This is the best site around. The search engines just give you a load of picture galleries or send me back here (except askjeeves which just tells you you've spelt everything wrong), but I shall keep trying Paul, and will get back to you (although I fear I may throw the computer out of the window in frustration).

i cud try and list what i know is available in captivity (achatinidae)
easy to get:
fulica (and rodatzii) margies tigers panthera dimidiata smithii reticulata stuhlmanni iradelei
harder to get:
immaculata (true immaculata btw) albopicta ventricosa degneri limicolaria flammea, turris and aurora buylaerti/puylaepti glutinosa margie ovum and suturalis papyracea fulica rufescens
i think any other giant snail species is practically impossible to get. correct me if im wrong

I think we've all tried Yuri, I offered him some species he didn't have in return for some varicosa, but he never got back to me. Plus like someone mentioned before, he doesn't send them out. We don't know if he even has any varicosa these days. One more snail that I know of in captivity is Archachatina camerunensis bought in Paris, but they've never bred.
