Selling a gameboy advance with 2 games on ebay for a friends nephew - auction ended yesterday at £13.00. Winning bidder completed checkout saying he would be sending a postal order. Today he has changed his mind has now said his parents have already bought his son one and he won't be paying. Mightily annoyed because this item now won't sell before Christmas and will have to pay to relist. What would you guys do about feedback in this instance?

Contact ebay report him as non paying bidder. You should get your listing fee back.

OK have done that - however it only offers you the option to 'mutually agree not to complete the transaction' in this situation. We didn't - he unilaterally decided he was not going to pay - despite ebay rules stating that you make a commitment to buy the item if you are the winning bidder. He gets no action taken against him by ebay so should I neg him in this instance - or just calm down and not bother

I agree that a negative feedback is called for.

Thanks guys - have done so wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't listed the item specifically to catch the Christmas market - and its not me who has ultimately lost out but Sam.

I would have neg him too, but will wait until the you get your NPB listing fees back first (that is if you have not neg him yet!), which will be in about 7 - 10 days, just in case he can do anything to you and your feedback. You have got a month (30 days) to neg him, so wait until the last day or so, then you can avoid to have a neg feedback from him. You know some bidders are just like that, you neg them, they neg you back without a reason.

Thanks Felix but whoops I already did Will bear your advice in mind though from now on though to be honest was expecting when I left neg to get negged back. I am really tempted not to bother with selling on ebay - I seem to be cursed with non payers - have only ever sold 6 items on ebay and 3 have not paid - one eventually resurfaced and paid saying their work e-mail had blocked ebay communications the other disappeared and now this one. Waste of time and effort really and I make a real effort to communicate well with buyers and post promptly. Never mind

Never mind Well we will learn... ;D I do ebaying for almost 6 years and gawd knows how many NPB I met, but there are some well manner lovely bidders out there. So it's just reality really. If someone is a NPB, I doubt he would like to communicate with you despite with your effort. ebay was a lot better years ago TBH. Just don't forget to claim your NPB fees back when the time comes.
