I am thinking about contacting several people across europe, that has a good reputation for selling different tarantula's, scorpions and other bugs, and enquiring about the possibility of them collecting snails and slugs from they're country that are not native here and sell them to me, I know it is legal to send gastropods across the EU, but what about wild caught ones? as long as its not a protected species (which I will look up, and avoid) I assume thats ok too?
...so, good idea? bad idea?

To bad there's really little snails here, or I could send some Arianta arbostorum if you don't already have it there (I guess you have them, do you?). I think all snails is protected here to. Slugs on the other hand is really many here... But I'm a bit afraid of touching them hehe ;D I think it's a good idea if it's a lot of snails where they come from. But if it's like here, that we hardly see them anymore, than it's a bad idea from that specific place. Good luck finding snails

I agree thats its a bad idea to collect indigenous snails where they are scarce, and certainly if they are protected, I would just like to keep many different snails

Did you see my list of Greek snails? That was my intention, to find a list of snails that the Greek guy Anjie contacted may be able to find. I think it'd be nice to build up a map of snails for the very reason you are suggesting. I'm pretty certain there is no distinction between wild and captive-bred in the law so no problems there. I think the only restriction is what Annelie said about taking snails from areas where they are rare; but that is something I'm sure none of us want.

I didnt see your list of Greek snails, where is it?
I am receiving many snails from ramonet, native to Spain, which I am really looking forward too, and have just contacted a seller of inverts in Italy about snails as well, the Arianta arbustorum looks great whatever the picture, I would really like some adults of them, I dont think I could find any here, so maybe I can find someone to collect some for me also

I will do, I haven't any more room for snails really but I may be able to visit him to see what he has got.
