Hi guys!
I need your help.
I am thinking of selling out some of my adult snails but I don't know what price to ask...
I have 3 large Achatina reticulata, ranging between 12-13cm and one A.smithii who's aprox. 8cm.
Any suggestions what would be suitable?
Best wishes Fredrik

I would be interested in all of them if you decide to sell them..I usually dont offer the price though, and rely on the seller to decide how much they want to sell for...Ive never seen adult reticulata and smithii for sale so not sure the average price for them?

Well, I have never seen any adults for sale either so that's the reason I asked. I haven't yet decided if I will sell them or keep them, I just wanted to find out what a reasonable price would be... Well Natty, if I'm selling them, it's because I have a few ideas I might work with instead. Hmm, did that sound odd? But yes, all money are welcomed since she is talking about a big wedding

Well I have seen adult tigers sell for £20, I think £8-10 would be ok for adults, I mean how many out of a whole batch of babies reach that size?

Thank's for the suggestions, guys. If anyone offered me £4/each I would never sell them. Money isn't everything, but they weren't easy to find when I found them, and they weren't cheap either. Besides, they have been with me since they were babies and they have cost me a small fortune to grow them into adults Kevin, I have other things coming that you'd like even more

Fredrik, I don't blame you 1 bit for wanting more for them, like you say you have grown them big, and they aren't fulica You say the price YOU want, people will either pay it, or not ;D

Well, I would if i have had my permit valid. I'm thinking of getting a new, but it cost alot of money and the freight is very, very expensive. I could give you the address to my supplier if you would like...

Ive noticed that African dealers are often difficult...In terms of minimum orders ($100's or $1000's) unless you get a "sample" order of around $200 for only a couple of species, and then the expensive shipping costs...I think I will stick to relying on major importers for African snails, since they are the most commonly found for sale also

The contact I have in South Africa doesn't have a minimum order. But all of the animals are shipped according to IAFA regulation, and the last time I ordered some from them, the freight costed aprox.€250. You have to add the V.A.T. as well. So if you were only to order a few animals, the costs will be too expensive.

Yes, I did order quite a lot of animals last time. If I had ordered less, the retail price would have been way too expensive for anyone interested.

My experience with african people is that there is a difference in what they are asking for shipping and reality. I spoke a few times with owners of african foodstores in Amsterdam. Even they don't pay amounts like 200/300 euro or dollars. A friend of mine is going to Togo in some time. If I give him photo's he will try to collect it there. In West-Africa snails can be send too, only not together with other animals. By plain is offcourse more expensive than by boat. By plain you have to collect the animals yourself at the airport and pay lots of tax to get them inside country. Most africans just eat most of the snails or burn them because they harm their foodsuply. I went one time to Amsterdam because I was told there were big tigersnails inside a garage. They were all dead and prepared for eating. Offcourse breeding is allways bether than wild caught, but some species are hard to find.
