Ok, I'm a teeny bit confused, I was reading about the baby food, and someone said about it being wheat/gluten and lactose free... but dog biscuits have wheat in (unless you buy the special ones) so how come they can eat those but not the baby food unless it's free of it? Or am I just being loony as normal and getting the wrong end of the stick? lol. Also... I was wondering if I could have a list of foods snails shouldn't have. All I really know of is pasta and salt! Thanks guys.

I don't know about the wheat/gluten and lactose issue,i have given my snails ground up wheat before with no problems. The list of food snails shouldn't have is not long, you named two,the most important thing is to make sure you wash the food and that it's not treated with any chemicals(pesticides)...

Okey dokey, is there foods they wont eat then? I mean I know they eat fruit and vegetables but they also eat their own eggs (I've seen them do this) and dead tank mates (have only read about this though).... would they eat other meat too? Or do they only do that when they have to?

Oh wait, on the food list, it says ' some raw meat'. I wouldn't give raw chicken though, it's always a bit risky with salmonella. Dangerous food is also rice, it says. Works the same as pasta. I don't have snails myself, so I'm only repeating what I've seen or think I've seen.

I wouldn't give him chicken - where did you see that Joram? I think these guys are strictly vegetarian!! It would be much easier to draw up a list of what he can eat, this site has a feeding section you can't go wrong if you just stick to that. www.petsnails.co.uk/index.php?action=care&type=feeding#f_foodVal

Great thanks for that. The eating eggs and dead friends must just be when they really need it. They obviously get droughts in Africa so maybe they have to do that when the plants shrivel too much? lol
*Looks through the link now*
Some raw meat.. doesn't say what though lol. I'll just stick to the fruit and veg for main meals me thinks lol.
And thanks Joram, a lot of times passed on info is the best! lol

I don't know where I read that Must've been mixing up information. Haven't been very well myself last week, bit sick yesterday and overall not much sleep. Think that's the cause.

They aren't vegetarian, they would eat rotting meat in the wild, but I'd be wary of chicken, although if they can eat rotting meat then I'm not sure what the difference is. 1s as bad as the other in my book! But, saying that. If you don't have to feed it then don't. I'm sure they'd prefer a nice juicy corn on the cob or a plate of chicken mash Nat

I'll have to look for that chicken mash.. it sounds.. strange lol. I'll stick to the fruit and veg and keep the beer as a treat lol. That's mainly what I was wondering about the meat, for a treat and using it to see if that would tempt BA out more than everything else.
Thanks guys.

You can give them a bit of celery but too much can kill them i've read a few times of people giving celery to their snails and losing nearly all of them.
