I bought 3 new "tanks" the other day, one was meant to be for the 2 margies, 1 for Tigers and a smaller one for my other babies. Obviously at the moment it's not for 2 Margies, but I'm putting my one Margie and my 2 adult Fulica in it for now. I bought 3 clear-ish storage boxes and lids, and today my dad drilled a load of holes in 2 of the lids for me (I'm leaving the other one for now as I'm hoping for Tiger babies so they don't need this tank straight away). I bought some stick on mesh but as it was made for card it didn't stick well enough so I've had to keep it on with cellotape. I've had no problems with the tape before so hopefully I wont now. Anyway, The lid: First layout and almost finished: What do you think? The tray of moss is for them to hide in if they want, knowing them they'll knock it over anyway lol. The black is their "pool" and the other is the food bowl. I'm going to be putting some fake plants in, but apart from that is there anything else they need? It should be enough ventilation, there's 20 holes.

Lol Yep I know that bit. That's still in the tank with them at the moment. Is there anything apart from that and the snails I've missed? lol
I might make the "pool" a bit smaller to give them more room to get around, will see how it goes. I'll now find out if Freddie (that's what I've named him hehe) will follow everyone elses Margies and love his water!!

Tehehe well I called him that after Freddie Mercury, as he could be a bit gay with the nail varnish on his shell rofl - I love gays btw so please no one hate me or be offended!!! Freddie is such a big legend, and this snail is just big lol so it kinda clicked in my head!
And the Iredalei is Carson, the blonde clothes nutter in queer eye! lol
Got to admit though, Freddie Fulica sounds cooler lol.

Looks ok to me although maybe a bit too crowded, they don't have a lot of room to move in atm.I would leave the plantpot out and have all the moss in the blue tray.Cool name Freddie,I have a Freddie reticulata lol

I have a load of smaller flowerpots, so I might see what one of them is like in it maybe. And maybe cut a "door" out of one and stand it up so it takes up less room that way. The moss tub isnt big enough for all of them you see, that's why the flower pot is there too. But with the plants going in they might not need the pot.
I think I have a smaller tub lurking somewhere that I could use for water, so that will save more space too.
Thanks for the input! I want to get it just right before putting them in, so anything else please say! ;D
Wooo another Freddie! Rofl.. I think I'm gonna start a name thread to see who has what lol *Checks if there's already one*

I found my hook and loop velcro tabs ;D Stuck the plant on so hopefully they can't knock it off, but I can still take it off to clean! Mwahahaha lol

How bout that? ;D I forgot I don't need a food dish now as it's the matting now and the food wont get as dirty. So the food bowl is now the water bowl. My fulica only use is when there's beer in it rofl. So the Margie should get it all to himself. I still have a load of smaller plant pots too. So can still swap that if need be. The plants are now both stuck on with the velcro hook and loop tab things ;D (We'll see how long that lasts! *rolls eyes*) And I've got a few more to put in to make it a bit more.. uhm.. I've lost the word now lol. To make it more "safe" and give them a few more things to hide under.

Rofl yeah it's an adult Margie, but I'm hoping he's a good boy. Lol. One thingy is a flowerpot, the other thingy *rofl*, is a tub of moss for them to lay eggs in, hide in etc. They wont all fit in the plant pot see... well actually they might but it might be a squeeze rofl. So I've given them the tub too. Plus I thought the moss looked nice there lol When I or someone else.. I don't remember, anyway.... when someone was asking about using the matting, a lot of people said they just had a tub of soil etc for them to burrow/lay eggs in. I just put moss in at the moment as I've got no compost lol and the fine bark chip is really rubbish for getting and staying damp. I've just remembered though, I think I still have a block of the expanding stuff left so I might put that in. I moved them into it a few hours ago.. (bout 5 mins after I posted the last pic) and I put Freddie into the flowerpot and just left the other too in the middle. Freddie has now moved and is by the dark green plant at the front, 1 Fulica is investigating the tape/mesh set up and the other is investigating the moss tub! So far so good me thinks lol.

Sphagnum moss is suitable for the egg laying and as a hiding/resting places for snails? How we wash it? Thanks for this chance. Have fun Sian!

Well I've always used it for them to hide in, I don't know if they will lay eggs in it though. I should think they would as they lay them in everything else lol
I just wash it by running it under warm water for a while and squeezing it out a lot. If you put it in a tub of water and keep swishing it round and squeezing it out it's a bit easier depending on the moss you have. This lot is lots of "small" pieces so it's easier to wash it in a tub, otherwise it all goes down the drain lol
