Do you want me to sit in the corner and rust, or just fall apart where I'm standing?

It looks to me like it could be a trichia or even an oxychilus. But, there are so many similar looking snails that are tiny we need more info so: What size is it?How many whorls has it got?Can you describe the colours better including body colour. Any, distinctive marks, like hairs on the shell?ProfileKnowing the profile of the shell like the following: helps a lot and also.... UmbilicusPerhaps even more useful is the umbilicus (the center of the reverse side of the shell, the point where the taper of the spiral finishes: Here is some pics of species of Trichia and Oxychilus. TrichiaOxychilusSo, if you'd really like to know and you can't get better pics, draw these bits as best as you can and photograph your drawing. A few of us have a guide to IDing British Snails: so I'm sure we could get close.

Paul, does the book include some slugs as well?

No, unfortunately it doesn't include slugs, it does have semislugs (Vitrinidae) though, but it says...
"Slugs are not included in these keys. Most can be identified using Cameron, Eversham and Jackson (1983) or Kerney and Cameron (1979), but there is no single up-to-date guide to species in the British Isles. Accurate determination of many species now depends on dissection."

Ok, but are there any books about native slugs, British or even European species that any of you knows about?
