Is there a species called Archachatina marginata saotomensis? a few times now Ive seen shells that look like very colourful suturalis with that name, on ebay and shell auction sites, at the moment I cant find any links with the name though, ive tried searching for it, and cant find any reference whether its an actual species or not.

I don´t think, they exist. Andreas Leiss sent me a while ago a drawn pic of all know marginata species. They are not on this link and pic´s. I am e-mailing you next minutes some pic´s of my little pretty colourful suturalis.

Very nice snail Do you still have the drawing with all the marginata variants? I cant find any pictures listed as saotomensis at the moment, the auctions and ebay links with them have finished, I found this though, which shows a Sao Tome and Principe marginata, i imagine the places where I seen saotomensis would list it as saotomensis? www.malakos.com/Journal/imageplates/saotomehall1.htmlCould it be, that those saotomensis just suturalis from the country Sao tomee? yeah, i was thinking that, maybe all marginata from Sao Tome is listed by some places as saotomensis?

so, maybe saotomensis is another name for suturalis? I'd think that some places give the name saotomensis to suturalis found in Sao Tome.

Yes, Lisa, those are really beautiful snailies. I gave up in spring on my suturalis and sold them all, because the wildcaughts, I had have not done well in my home. They had some batches of eggs, but there wasn´t hatching anything.
Now I got some weeks those nice ones for free and I couldn´t resist and those are now doing really great (as now really all my archachatina do). They are growing well and eat like little piglets.
