Recently. The snails at the pet shop layed eggs. My friend who works there took 10 home andoffered to give 2 to me. I bought a large plastic tank and layered it with about a inch and a half of peat substrate. I put them on a leaf of lettuce and spray them and the substrate when it's looking dry. They are about the size of a pea at the moment and the sheels are yellow (Starting to turn brown) Am I doing everything right? How long will it tke for them to grow?

Make sure you offer them a cuttle bone to nibble on so their shells will get nice and strong. They will eat a wide variety of vegatables, my babies seem to like sweet potato and cucumber, sliced very thinly. I assume they are fulica? They will grow quite quickly, you will be surprised at how quick they grow.

You will find they are most active at night, so you may not see too much of them sometimes. When you get up you will find they have moved to another place in the tank and little holes in the lettuce.

How old are they? I find my babies didn't eat for about 2 weeks after they hatched. I guess they were still full from eating their egg shells.

They're about a week and a bit old now. One of them disappears at night and I can't find him now! Will he be okay?

he could have burrowed under the subtrate. My fulica babies did that. They will come back up

You might find it easier with a little less substrate say about half an inch deep or put them on some damp capillary matting with a little pile of moss in the corner, makes finding/checking on tiny babies so much easier. Val

Yeah. One of them is on top of some cuttlebone and doesn't move. I don't know where the other one went. I'll look for him tommorow

Possibly a few weeks, hard to predict a snails growth rate, depends how much the snails eat.
