hello, over the past three or four days i've been keeping an eye on Isaac, my wild fulica, because i've noticed he's struggling to climb the sides of the tank. He used to love hanging from the top, but now he can only get half-way up (so that about 1cm of his tail is still on the ground). He stretches his body up but then when he starts trying to pull his shell up after him he just can't. could this be a sign that he's getting old or that i've not built up his strength enough? his shell's grown about a couple of inches since i got him but he's not really got any fatter. anyone got any tips? Erica, Isaac and Shuffle

he seems to be. i tried them out on a few new things recently but always made sure they got lettuce, tomato and cuttle as well because i didn't want them to go hungry if they didn't like the new things. they don't tend to eat when i feed them though, usually wait until later in the evening.

Hope hes okay today. What does he do if you leave the lid off - Other than watch Shuffle disappear into the sunset?
If you want some snail mix to give him a boost then i will pop some in the post

i didn't think of that, will try leaving the lid off when they wake up and let you know what happens

well... i left the lid off and he did get higher than previously, but by then it was gone 1am so i really had to go to bed so i was asleep if he did get on the lid. i've started feeding him oatibix now - he seems to love it - so maybe that'll help build up his strength?
i'd still be grateful for any other suggestions anyone might have...
