Is it ok to keep different types of snails together? Could there be any problems with them cross breeding?

I keep mine in mixed tanks, they can cross breed but I don't think it's a problem unless you want to hatch any eggs?
Even then I'm not sure what the problems are even if you do hatch any except it can make loads of new species?
Not much help really sorry lol
It's not a good idea to keep other snails like garden snails in with the gals though. They can pass on diseases and the gals probably wont like them (Mine didn't anyway)

It depends ofcourse which species you keep together and how big they are.Babies with somewhat older snails is not a problem.I have iredalei, panthera ,smithi in one tank all different sizes and that gives no problems. Also Tigers and Margies are ok.

I also have iredalei, panthera and smithii in one tank (you copy cat Arno ), my dimidiata are now in with my marginata and I'll probably be putting my fulica rodatzi in with my reticulata at some point lol. If you're not going to hatch any eggs, then I think the main thing you have to think about is the conditions they like. I had to move my fulica out of the tank they were in with my marginata as the margies prefer it wetter than the fulica do.

I would be wanting to hatch some eggs, could there be problems with the cross breed babies? It would be easier for me to have a few large tanks set up than to have many smaller ones but would want to keep the condition suitable for all. All the snail are gone from the garden, though the summer we had tons. I would keep them seperatly anyway, but thank you My daughter wanted to keep some of the snails from the garden but I felt a bit guilty about taking them, I'm proberly just being soft lol

oh theres so many threads like this basically if theyre similar size then theyre ok to keep together. i wudnt advise keeping species together with a great size difference (e.g. margies and iredalei) and i wudnt advise keeping british and african snails together. mike

That's all been said. lol. I did see someone keeps iredalei with tigers and they're fine. It's up to your judgement really, if you want to keep big and small together then just keep an eye on them to make sure they're ok. My baby dimis and margie are in with my big margie and are ok so far. I wouldn't think there would be any problems with hatching cross breeds (that's how many species were made anyway and I know people on here have done it) and Arno did tell me there shouldn't be any problems. So if you get problems, blame Arno Mwahahahaha From what I've seen with my snails; fulica don't like it too damp where as margies and iredalei do, but the rest of them aren't that bothered lol. (But that's mine ) It shouldn't be too hard to house them in the right "groups".

I've had all mine in together at one point. Oh hang on, that was before Monty came. But anyway, I have two fulicas sharing with a reticulata, and my two dimis would be in there if it wasn't for them being poorly. And I fully intend to have them all in together after Christmas if they're better, and then two tigers in April! ;D
