Just cleaned out today and thought I'd get a pic Lol, you would be glad that you did if you have the snails that I have. A day after I clean the tank out the totally destroy it by moving all the plastic plants and moss about the tank. Your tank looks nice. Are the dead leaves picked up from the ground? If so, are they safe for GALS? Also, if they are safe what leaf is it...I have an idea but just checking. If they are safe to use then I may put some in my tanks.

I thought that I might as well mention this, it is only a suggestion. The rocks may be a danger to falling snails. If a snail falls off the lid it may smash it's shell on the rock. You can buy these resin or plastic reptile hides that look like rocks. I imagine that these won't cause as much damage to a falling snail as a rock would.

You'd be suprised. I have a resin cave for my newts, and I dropped a coloured pebble into the tank accidently, and it smashed on the cave. This pebble was much thicker than a snail shell too. It's the same as flowerpots though. Some people have things like this and hard flowerpots and their snails never get hurt. You just have to keep an eye on them. Maybe you could put something on it to cushion it a bit? Is that parsley?! Are you seasoning your snails!? Rofl What's the long green stuff? It kinda looks like smushed courgette or something lol The tank looks really nice. Do they leave the thermometer alone? I had to super glue my one like that to the tank as they kept knocking it off

Is that parsley?! Are you seasoning your snails!? Rofl Lol I thought that! Do they eat it??? About the resin thing, I have a resin reptile food dish. So far none of my snails have hurt themselves on that. But if they do fall on to it, there is food there which should act as a cushion.

Ok just had another thought. 2steps, if you wish to keep the rock there, to cushion it you could try putting some moss on top???

I think its also the way a snail falls,I had one falling on a piece of cuttlefish which broke the cuttle but also the edge of the snails shell

sarah, I wash everything first, just to be safe. The rocks have always been in the tank and never been a problem but its a good point they like to hide behind it. It's green pepper, sian I only put the thermometer in a few weeks ago, my house is quite cold and I'd like to keep an eye on the temp. So far its been ok. The plants are parsley and strawberry. The snails in the garden seem to like them lol I have a vegtable garden and have loads of both. Thought my snailies would like some but so far they haven't eaten them

I have resin water/food bowls too, but the cave I have seems to be harder. They're made by the same people too so I don't know why they're different lol. Ahh pepper. Thanks lol. I was sat here trying to figure it out 'cause it looked familiar Tut tut, seasoning your snails. Hahaha.
