Hi there, glad you found this discussion board! Concerning agility I have heard Euglandina can move double or three times as fast as a normal snail. And it follows them smelling the slime trail, because of which it has these elongated lips. That is why it is called a wolf snail. Regards Robert

I am glad you all like Baloo (I renamed him my neice didnt like hymhar LOL) He is quite active Ive had him for 2 days and today has been the less active but he usually is active around this time. I noticed they were faster too! I would leave him on one side of the carrier I have him in and find him on the other side! in a period of 1 minute minute and half. I hope I can find another one soon so they can mate.. I read that if the timing is not right they can eat each other instead of mating. when I do find another I ll keep him seperated and when I do put them together as soon as I see any rough play (I hope its not to hard to tell from mating! ) then take one out.. I'll me taking more pics as soon as he comes out.

ps. What are you feeding him at the moment? snails? slugs? Snails, I cant find any slugs. I caught 4 snails for him but I havnt seen him eat any. I don't have any Heat lamp so I put him outside today.. I have to make a better Terarium for him. Does any one have any links? or pics. Hes absolubtly gorgeous, it's a shame you live in the USA i think it's illegal to post out to the UK ahh well, you can just keep the pictures coming Yeah, I think so too. They've had lots of problems with the Rosea Specially in hawaii. They were introduced over there to stop the overpopulation of the Fulica but the Rosea eats smaller snails and they reproduced faster than the native snails so 70-80% of the native Hawaiian snails are extinct. So Exporting is illegal.. I would Love to grow my snail collection.. I just need to learn how to care for them! I glad I found this forum! If you guys want pics email me directly ill email them to you FULL SIZE also. Check out my site (which I started today) Jpetscentral.tripod.com all I have is the Index for now..

I hadn't seen him Euglandina eat at all! and I had him for 3 days. I was really close to releasing him. Well, last night I brought him in from his sun bathing and when I open the terrarium I found him out of his shell but I couldn't see his HEAD! One of the snails was attached to his body. I got so scared! (LOL bare with me I am new to snails) but then I realized HE WAS EATING!! that made me feel so much better! I went running looking for my cam (which by the way you never find when you really need it) and when I got back he was done :/. I "candled" the snail and he was empty.. Poor little guy, BUT EUGLANDINA ATE!! YAY! lol. On another note I found this small snail. Bigger than the normal Brown Garden snail but WAAY smaller than the Euglandina, His shell looks exactly like the Euglandina but miniature and a Different color. I haven't seen him out of the shell so I can tell for sure but I think its a baby Euglandina I am going to separate him so his not eaten till I can tell for sure. Well, Ill be posting more pictures soon! Send me Feedback!

I'm not going to guess what it could be as I know little about Florida's snails, but I doubt it's E. rosea
to be sure you have to wait till his body comes out, to see if he has the extensions of the mouth (that look like 2 extra tentacles)
If it's not, maybe you could find another adult E.rosea?
