Hi, I've been reading this forum and the info on the website for the past few weeks and I've learned a lot. Thanks for sharing all your experiences and wisdom regarding the proper care and feeding of your snails. I became interested in snails one damp evening at my bf's house as we took a walk through his neighborhood and saw all the common garden snails coming out and cruising around on the grass and the sidewalks everywhere. One was even crawling along the side of his truck! We could not figure out how it got up there. I was fascinated by these little creatures, and I began to wonder how feasable it was to keep one as a pet. Since I'm in California I can't get a GALS, but even if I could I still think I'd prefer a small Helix aspersa (or Cantareus aspersus, I believe they're called now), since they were my introduction to the mollusc realm. I've only had cats before as companion animals, the most recent of which lost his battle with cancer about a year ago. I have not yet felt ready to get another cat, but I'm pretty sure I can handle a snail, thanks to all the info and resources here. BTW, if anyone has any tips regarding Cantareus aspersus, I'm all ears. ;D
