I have had my snails for about a year now, I have 2 large snails and 4 young smaller ones. I am not sure what they are but think they are Achatina snails. They were bread in captivity and seem to be happy although one of them has been hibernating for a couple of months with the seal over the entrance. I have a video on youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGTOVwyPEdIAnd for the last 6 months had a webcam on them as well www.thebogieman.co.uk/page54.htmlThe picture is not brilliant but good enough to tell it is snails (sometimes). Anyway hope to learn here.
