Hello All,
I'm new to this forum, and I'm writing in hopes that you can help me. You see I had a few snails in my aquarium to help out with the algae. However a couple of days ago my nephew did something very horrible, he dumped a can a half of food into my tank.
I managed to save my fish, but the two snails that I had have now become 50+.
I do not have the room for so many snails, and I'm trying to find a way to find them a home. If anyone is interested please advise, or if anyone has any advise as to what I should do please help.
Thank You
Rose

Hiya, What kind of snails and, if appropriate, what colours? I'm full, in theory, but there's one or two kinds/colours I'd make an exception for and I suspect others are the same. If they're apple snails and you have any solid purple rather than striped, for example, I'll happily make you an offer for them I sell excess ramshorns and occasionally apple snails on eBay. There's always a few up from several sellers but they sell moderately well so I don't think it's saturated yet -they don't go for a lot of money, but it finds them a home and keeps me in algae wafers

I'm not really sure what type of snails they are. I'm really sorry. I will do some research and try to find out more information on them. There very dark in colour. I will try to take a picture of them and post it. Thanks.

Unless the're snails such as apple or zebra, there isn't really much chance of selling them. Most petshops will give them away if you ask for them. Most other snails such as ramshorn and melania trumpet snails are considered pests as they breed very quickly and over run a tank. If they are pest snails the only people who would buy them on ebay are people who want to use them as feeder snails for shrimps and pufferfish etc. There are a couple of options for you. You can either use a snail trap, from a pet shop. Or you can get a piece of lettice weighted down and tied to a thread. Drop the lettice into the tank in the evening and pull it out again in the morning. It should be covered in snails, then bag it up and pop it ino the freezer. You may have to do it a few times to get the snails down to a managable number. There is another snail you could add to the tank, they're called Assasin/Rambo snails: Antentome helena. they're small sized, black and yellow striped snails. They're very attractive. They eat snails smaller than them, when there are no more snails to eat, they'll eat algea and decaying plant matter. But because of their use as a pest exterminator, they can be collected and sold.
