Hi Robin. Garden snail eggs look a lot like this: That is my (gloved) index finger next to the egg cluster, to give you a sense of scale. Whereabouts in your garden did you find it? Snails usually bury their eggs.

like lizzie97444 said, a garden snail egg is usually more oval. you should probably bury it in a small container, a wee bit under a little substrate like soil and keep it nice and moist....that is if it isn't a bb gun pellet!

Hay i have had my sail about 18 months and recently i have found a couple of eggs in his tank. He has always been on his own and i was wondering if this is normal for them.

Hi sweetpea, the eggs will probably hatch in the tank, but there is a likelihood that they might not if they have been self-fertilized.

Worm eggs look like teeny tiny lemons. They are not round, nor are they clear. It may be a coincidence that the dead snails were near the clear eggs you found.

I used to see the occasional clear egg (and some really tiny eggs) in with the normal ones my fulica laid. I always assumed it was a problem with the eggs, like the shell is too thin, possibly genetic in my case since all my snails were inbred siblings.
We had a duck egg a bit like that once, it had the inner layer of the shell, which is kind of rubbery but not the hard outer layer so it looked normal but felt really soft and moved under your fingers. No idea why, the same ducks laid perfectly normal eggs the rest of the time.

How odd about the duck egg. WRT odd snail eggs, I just recently learned about "nurse eggs," which apparently are produced by certain marine snails (and possibly other kinds too). Nurse eggs are part of the clutch specifically for the first few hatchlings to feed upon to give them a good, protein-rich start in life. I tried to find out if land snails also produce nurse eggs but couldn't find anything to verify that or not.
