Hi there, so do I. On the left: Cepaea hortensis, the white-mouthed banded snail. On the right: Cepaea vindobonensis, the ribbed banded snail, or also known as Viennese banded snail. Kind regards Robert Nordsieck

These pics are gorgeous. How'd you manage to take such good photos?

Hi there, those pictures were not so difficult, as I took the snails outside to the garden, where the light was good and took enough time to take the pictures. What I find much more difficult is to photograph snails in the forest. Usually I have nothing to place the camera on and I do not like to use the flash, as the colours come out unnatural. But anyway I managed some good pictures of forest snails, I am always glad, if something works out fine. Kind regards Robert > See the pictures on my gallery. I am afraid it's only in German, as I haven't figured out yet how to use the English language packet, but the pictures you can look at anyway. My directories are " Exkursionen" (Excursions) and "Öffentliche Kategorie" (Public category) -> Robert.

Hi Robert, Do you keep Cepaea vindobonensis as pets or is this a wild specimen in the picture? I'm only asking as I've been looking into getting some of these for a while.

No worries Robert, that just gives me an excuse to try and learn German again. Awesome language.
