Last July, my snails laid eggs that I didn't notice, and as a result, I currently have 101 sexually mature fulcia babies on top of my 10 adults
Until this week, they were all cramped into 1 tiny tank. They're split between 2 now and as a result are much happier; they didn't have enough floor space to even put each on the soil without having to stack them on top of each other. It's very sad that they're probably really undernourished as I don't have enough money to feed them all sufficiently and to give them enough space to lead the full lives they deserve.
I'm starting my A levels in September and my parents have told me that they're fed up with the tanks taking up so much space and with the smell. If the babies aren't gone by the end of the month, they'll be sold as live pet food or disposed of in some other way
I really don't want this to happen; I've cared for them for so long and have grown attached to them, even though they were an accident, but regardless of my parents' threat they still need to go. My 10 other 2 year old adult fulcias are all stuck in a medium-sized tank without enough space and, with the babies gone I could spread them out a bit more and make their lives a bit better.
I could perhaps keep up to 10 babies but desperately need to find loving, permanent homes for 90-100 babies. I have spent weeks joining snail and pet forums and emailing people who've been making enquiries about purchasing GALS but have only succeeded in selling 3 to one person so far. I've always been reluctant to look into using Ebay, as I don't want them to be used as live pet food.
Can anyone offer me any advice? Would anyone be willing to adopt/purchase any, or do you know of any snail sancuaries or reptile centres who are willing to take on unwanted snails???
Please help!!!
