I had some eggs hatch over the weekend before I had time to move them from the main tank. Will the adult snail eat the babies? Do I need to keep the babies separately! I had assumed the eggs were empty because my snails have not shared a tank since xmas!

Most species won't eat their young - what species are yours? Snails can lay fertile eggs months or even years after mating - they store genetic material until they feel conditions are right for them to lay

Thank you! I think they are Achatina Fulica. I am a teacher and they were bought as a gift for me to keep as class pets! I was worried that i might come back to school tomorrow to find no babies!! Try explaining that to 4 year olds! They actually hatched when at home with a child on a home visit- his parents were rather surprised!

I'll bet that was quite a surprise for them! ;D I don't think the babies need to be separated from the adults. Good luck with them!
