is it possible to loose baby snails? I don't mean by death... Is it possible to accidentally loose one when replacing food?

Yes, it can happen - but I can tell you that after you once search an entire bin for one missing baby, you check old food very, very carefully for ever after

I feel so much better now!
U gotta be honest I thought I'd lost one!! I thought to myself what a careless pillock! Even though I thought I was being careful the other day when disposing of uneaten veg and when I've only been able to find three babies and not four I was beginning to panic.
I ended up tipping the whole tub this afternoon, digging through soil. Four!! There are four!! How friggin released was I to find it buried really carefully in shallow soil!! Lmao
I can't imagine what its like for those that have 100+ to count every morning!! XD

Well, I find itmuch easier to very carefully check everything I remove from the tank and trust that umpteen zillion tiny babies are therefore still safely in their tank

I agree that it's easier to inspect everything you're removing from the tank for babies prior to discarding, rather than conduct a census each time. Good thing you found the little one, oddity!

(Due to a lot of new arrivals recently I've been pre-emptively hypoaspis-ing the whole crew with bare tanks and capillary matting to make sure. This is what made it take all flipping day to go through the moss in the retic tank strand by strand ) ETA: And this is why I prefer archachatinas: Margie Ovum Amberdrake and his harem have been very productive recently!
